This was a clean and reasonably priced hotel. The guest rooms were nicely sized and the bathrooms larger than you find normally. The decor is a bit dated, but this did not deter from the overall feel of the place. This is more like a boutique hotel - no large imposing front desk - just someone sitting at a regular desk. Staff was friendly and accomodating. The location is along the RiverWalk of the Detroit River with Canada right across the river - safe to walk along. It is a bit hard to find the hotel as it's tucked back into a former business district. The lower level houses a restaurant and bar - we didn't eat there, but it seemed to have a variety of offerings on the menus. The continnental breakfast is sparse - pastries, yogurt and fresh fruit - something to get you started but not a meal. There is a shuttle available to transport you to the downtown areas and it is not far from the bus line. There is free parking, but the lot is limited when special events are taking place at the hotel. We would stay here again.
The rooms were a little warm (we ended up opening the windows and that worked fine). The bathtub shower head was very low and the tub didn't drain well. A little hard to find - mapping directions not accurate.
The staff is absolutely fantastic, all of them!
Staff was very accomodating. Free parking, Free Wi-Fi. Free access to printer. Small work-out area. Front located directy on new Detroit Riverwalk Free shuttle to Comerica Park & Ford Field Comfortable beds.
This is an old hotel in an industrial area. It needs some upgrading and cleaning. Services for food are limited. Need a car.
Our room was located directly above the reception area and there was a wedding going on. We were terribly disappointed that we were unable to get to sleep until after the reception was over.
The location, price and great people makes it an easy choice for a return visit.
No swimming pool
My hotel stay was great. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and inviting. The lounge staff even kept the bar and kitchen open for us after our event...accomodating our party of 12 as well. Overall, a great stay and thanks to Talashia for everything!
The room was nice and spacious.
The Air Conditioning did not work - in room - nor floor hallways was extremely hot. The parking could be better.
free parking, free shuttle, nice room
air conditioning not working-hot in rooms, soap and shampoo not in room, long wait for shuttle(traffice was congested though), upon check in they did not explain amenities or even that they have a bar and restaurant
Rooms were nice and staff was great, especially Vince the shuttle driver/cook.
No vending machines.
The location was around the corner from where I needed to be.
Room was not cleaned, received the wrong room, no cell phone service signal, staff was rude
Nice location beside the river but a bit isolated from downtown Detroit
Meal situation wasn't very good. I had an early started and wanted to have 7am breakfast (when it was supposed to open) but no one there
I'll be honest, I almost don't want to reveal this gem for fear it will be priced out of our range next time we want to stay! This was an amazing find!!! The staff was great, the room was wonderful; being able to open the windows to the river...wow! The location was ridiculously gorgeous (try to get a river view)! We had a chance to enjoy the cafe downstairs & had a delicious & quite inexpensive breakfast (the coffee is out of this world) & our server, Ebraham (sorry if the spelling is off) was gracious & helpful! We will definately be staying here again! Also, if you do get a chance to hit Belle Isle (5 min away) make sure you see the Anna Whitcomb Conservatory. It is free & one of the true "diamonds of Detroit"!
Light was out in the bathroom, thermostat did not work well, no remote in the exercise room, no water in the exercise room and the clean-up wipes dispenser was empty. Little inconveniences that took away from the overall experience. Norris, the bartender was very knowledgable and friendly.
Just a bit disturbing----The check in time was 3pm. We arrived early and had to wait on the exact time. Pretty soon a whole line up to the door waiting for 3pm check in. The entrance area is small. Knowing that day has major event of firework night and the hotel was fully booked---3pm check in was strictly enforced---no exception. People came in with kids and luggage were all lined up---looked like a greyhound station. I am sure rooms were available--at least some rooms after 2pm on that day---- girl said ---NO---wait till 3pm. Second disturbing situation---upon check out---the billing price was wrong. Booked.net confirmed price on the KING room was $99.00, We produced confirmation acknowlegement upon check in. they charged us $119.00 at check out. I went back to question, the girl (without apology) grabbed the receipt back and screamed "JESUS"---then she changed back to $99.00. Why and how could the price be changed? My husband and I travelled all over the world, booked hotels on line and have not encountered such a problem anywhere else! By the way only 1 girl on duty to do the check in and check out! CCB and JMB
When I tried opening the bathroom door the handle broke off. Tried opening the closet door and the door came right off the hinge. Top that with dirty room and bathroom I would say I was rather displeased with my stay.
